Lansdowne Live

Well today is the day that public hearings begin and things go bad.

There is no doubt in my mind that the developers involved in the project have already paid enough councilors to vote their way and we are very likely to give away perhaps the crown jewel of Ottawa’s public assets to private interests.

Great Live Blogging by David Reevely here on the citizen website.

I heard a lot of opposition to the plan, as I too am opposed.  Its a bad deal financially, its a pretty bad value for money, and its bad for the residents of the Glebe.

But what really bother’s me is that there is a real urban/suburban divide between support, with most of the suburban support wanting to stick it to the “whiny glebeites”.

I think if people would stop buying into the rhetoric and look at the facts they would question why they would even support something like this.  Its a bad deal for the city but I am just too mad to comment on this appropriately.  Maybe tomorrow after the vote?
